Topographical and contour survey
Architects, engineers and planners need levels before they draw. We survey ground levels and every feature on site with total station, DGPS and auto level, and deliver an AutoCAD contour plan with a Google Earth KML.
Used for
- Building, colony and township layouts
- Factories, plants and sewage treatment plants
- Road, drain and sewer design
- Earth filling and cutting quantities
- Solar plants and warehouses
What you receive
- AutoCAD drawing with spot levels and contours at the agreed interval
- Roads, drains, trees, poles, buildings and boundaries
- TBMs with coordinates and RL
- KML / KMZ for Google Earth
- PDF print of the drawing
How we do it
- 01Fix TBMs with DGPS or tie to a known benchmark.
- 02Survey levels and features with total station and auto level.
- 03Use a drone for large or open sites.
- 04Generate contours in Civil 3D and check them in the field.
- 05Deliver the DWG, PDF and KML.
Recent work
Topographical survey of a sugar mill colony for a proposed sewage treatment plant, delivered as an AutoCAD contour plan with KML.
Questions
Which contour interval should I ask for?
It depends on the purpose and how flat the site is. Building plots often use 0.25 m to 0.5 m and large sites 0.5 m to 1 m. Tell us what you are designing and we will suggest an interval.
How is a topographical survey priced?
Usually per hectare or per acre, plus mobilisation. Large or long sites may be priced per km. You get the breakup in the quotation.
Total station or drone: which is better?
Total station is best for detailed levels on small and built-up sites. A drone is faster for large open sites. Many jobs combine both on the same control.
